Honouring the Women Who Inspire Us: A Personal Reflection on International Women's Day

Today, on International Women's Day, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who shape our lives. It's a day to honour their strength, resilience, and the lasting impact they have on us all.

For me, this day holds a deeply personal meaning. The most inspiring woman in my life was, and always will be, my mum. She faced an immense challenge, undergoing surgical menopause at just 36 after a hysterectomy. As a teenager, I witnessed her struggle, the profound physical, mental, and emotional changes menopause brought. The lack of support and the feeling of isolation she endured was heartbreaking.

She passed away at the age of 64, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about her journey. Her experience is the driving force behind my work. I am dedicated to supporting women through menopause, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and understood. If I can make a difference in just one woman's life, then all my efforts are worthwhile.

Yesterday, in my Menopause Breakthroughs Facebook Group, I shared my excitement for International Women's Day a little early, but truly, every day should be a celebration of women.

Today, I honour my mum's strength and resilience, and I celebrate every woman who has felt unheard or dismissed. I see you, and I will continue to advocate for you.

Who is the most inspiring woman in your life, and why? Share your stories in the comments below. Let's celebrate these remarkable women together.
